I decided to do a separate post on my Social Monkee Review since I am getting so many emails about it. I won’t go into the details of why backlinks are good or try to explain them.  I’ll just keep this post on topic with my review.

What is Social Monkee and how does it work?

This is a firefox plugin that allows you to submit your link to 25 social bookmarking sites a day.  Once the plugin is installed you will have a monkey face in the lower right hand corner of your browser.  So, you go to the site you want to bookmark and then click on the monkey.  It opens a new window and you fill in the URL, title, description and tags.  You can enter 3 variations of these so you don’t have all the same bookmark info and it makes it look more random.  Then you hit the submit button and it only takes a minute or so to finish.

How to check your backlinks?

Social Monkee offers a free and a paid version.  The paid version is $47 and that is a one time fee.  With the paid version you get reporting which is nice so you can actually check to see what sites your bookmark has been submitted to.  The free version doesn’t offer this so you have to rely on the old ways such as Yahoo Site Explorer to check your backlinks.  You also have the option of a free upgrade if you refer 12 people.  So there is a really easy way to get access at no cost.  My thought is they will eventually either up the price or do away with the referral program so I would suggest you get signed up now.  The membership is free.

My results?

I have only been using Social Monkee for about a week and I am seeing the backlinks start to show up.  I have been paying $19 a site for this service so I am pretty excited to be able to do this for free.

Cons

Ok, the only thing I don’t like is the no reporting until you upgrade.  But in the end I may go ahead and pay since it will save me money in the long run.

and Test

After getting a few emails promoting this I was intrigued to I went ahead and purchased it.  What follows if my opinion of the product and results from doing a very limited implementation.

The Auto Coupon Cash Program

The premise behind this program is to offer coupons, discount codes, and promo codes via an affiliate link.  Most of us know that many online vendors offer some sort of discount when checking out.  Just put a code or click on a specific link and the discount of pertentage off is applied at checkout.  I know I have been at the online checkout of a website and when I see the little box to ender a code I open up another window and go a quick search to see if I can find anything.  Sometimes you find something and save a few bucks. 

So Auto Coupon Cash details how to get shoppers to use your affiliate link to make their purchase and in return you get the commission on the sale.  The idea is that the shopper is already sitting at the checkout and ready to purchase so they are very targeted buyers.

My Test

So I set up a website http://coupons-codes-promos.com/ really quick using WordPress and created categories for a few sites I was affiliated with on Commission Junction.  I created the links via the CJ interface and post them to the site. 

I had a balance on my Adwords account so I set up a few ads based on keywords such as

• example.com coupon
• example.com promo code
• example.com coupon code

You get the idea.  All my keywords were selected for searches that potential buyers may use as they are sitting at the checkout and then decide to go search for a discount.

My biggest issue was the majority of sites do not allow you to bid on keywords with their domain name in it.  I had a lot of trouble finding sites that I would acutally promote their codes with their domain in the ad.

Pros and Cons of Auto Coupon Cash

Pros:

• you really get a ton of info in the pdf manual and I have only touched on the surface of the ideas and techniques presented.
• lots of tools you can use for your research
• fairly low price.  I didn’t take any of the upsells or downsells.
• great concept and you can probably make a few bucks if you do your research

Cons:

• one of the sales videos shows them making a gob of cash via Clickbank.  I really don’t understand how you can use Clickbank with the program.  Maybe I missed something as I read through the manual.
• I’m not so sure you can make a ton of cash fast with this.  It will take some time to do your research and find the best keywords to use.
• The hype in the sales page really annoys me.  But maybe that is just me.

Conclusion:

My limited test has made no money at all.  I do think the concept is there and there is a ton of useful information in the program.  I have really only touched the service with their ideas on how to promote the coupons codes.  I only implemented one of their ideas.  If you are new to internet marketing this may be the way to make a few bucks and it will give you a good program to try.  Be prepared to spend some time doing research and testing.

If you are having a hard time finding that perfect niche I have a suggestion for you.  Now, I don’t usually recommend other sites, but you really need to check out NicheHut.com.  Aaron at nichehut sends out a new niche daily.  Not only do you get a new niche every day he also gives you:

• keywords for the niche
• number of monthly searches for the niche
• search volume rating
• competition rating
• profitability rating
• suggested monetization methods

All of this is at no cost or obligation at all.  Also, there are no advertisements in his emails.  Just the new niche and data on the niche.

Even if you don’t use the niche he is sending it may spawn your creative juices and get you thinking.  Sometimes we get stuck trying to find that perfect niche and the daily niche may be what can help you.

This is what I woke up to today in Dayton, OH!  About 1/4 inch of ice covering everything.  Right now it is pouring rain and freezing as it hits the ground.  Suppose to turn to snow later and add a couple of inches of white stuff on top of the ice.
